Lenovo C540 23-Inch Great product!

This is a great computer made stupendous by the very low price. I did buy the Lenovo wireless keyboard and mouse which also work perfectly, as well as an Epson wi-fi printer. The computer absolutely has SIX USB ports, 2 on the side and 4 on the back. I only use 1 for a portable hard drive and one for a USB extension. With the extension attached under my desk I can hide all the wires for my camera, iPhone, iPod, etc. Now I have only the power cord and that cord for the USB extension coming from the back of my computer. That just thrills the crap out of me. Windows 8 takes some getting used to. One can set things up so that it works essentially the same as XP but there are some things that I'm starting to like about 8. I switch between a regular desktop view and the Windows 8 screen and that doesn't bother me.

I struggled to get the back off so that I could increase the memory and gave up for awhile. I called support about it and the guy was a complete and utter idiot. They "don't provide support for tear-down service." The point was that I did not want to tear the thing up trying to get the cover off. I finally decided to go ahead and manhandle the darned thing. There are about a dozen tabs on the plastic "foot cover" which hold it very firmly in place. I ended up twisting a screwdriver between the upper cover and the lower one to pry the cover down. This is exactly what I did not want to have to do. I only marred the plastic very slightly and broke just 1 of the tabs. The other 11 or so will have to manage to keep the back on. As an aside, I did add a Kingston 4GB memory module to bring the total up to 8 and so far it works perfectly.

This Computer was just what I wanted. It is easy to use, takes up less space, and is lightweight.
I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

After a bit of reading and trying I finally got my system up and running. I am 61 and not a computer expert by any means but now all is working and I love my new computer.

Lenovo C540 23 Inch All In One Desktop

Space-Saving Design

The 23" display takes surprisingly little space on your desk, counter, or entertainment center. The unit itself starts at a mere 55mm/2.2" thin, with clutter-free cable management and a sleek metal stand that allows you to store the keyboard underneath. Everything tucks away neatly when nobody's using the C540, even though those times will probably be rare.

Multimedia Power

Thanks to its HD graphics support, DVD reader/writer, stereo speakers with Dolby Advanced Audio v2, this PC offers crisp visuals and immersive sound for a fuller, more satisfying home entertainment experience.

AccuType Keyboard

Featuring a modern look and feel, the AccuType keyboard has island-style, ergonomic keys that allow a more fluid, spacious, comfortable and accurate typing experience than standard keyboard designs.

Eye-Protecting Software

Lenovo's Dynamic Brightness System automatically adjusts the display's brightness to optimal levels dependent upon the level of ambient lighting, while Eye Distance System protects your eyes from strain or damage by emitting a warning signal when you are too close to the display.

Lenovo Rescue System

Quickly and easily backup and recover system files, applications, drivers, and even user files.

Education Portal

The family-friendly C540 includes a slate of nine interactive applications for children – puzzles, games, and flash cards – programmed to deliver a fun way of teaching numbers, letters, animals, time, and other topics.

Dell Inspiron 660 i660 Desktop Reviews

After a lot of research, thoughtful consideration, and then a hesitant decision, I purchased this and now I am wondering why I waited so long! Rapid delivery, in a double boxed package for a confidential delivery, was no surprise because Amazon is known (and appreciated!) for this.
The ease of set-up was noted, and all my devices were automatically recognized and functioned immediately. Windows 8 stumped me for a short time, but I really am enjoying working with it and learning how to make it do what I need and want. Internet connection is super fast. Wi-Fi for my devices throughout the house works great.
All in all, I am pretty happy with this purchase. I chose Dell to begin with since it has been so reliable for me in the past.

This is in response to Amazon's "Item Under Review" statement. It is about delivery problems from Dell.com, NOT from Amazon. I have ALWAYS received great delivery times (many shorter than expected) from Amazon. I am glad to see that Amazon would rather make sure they can ship the product instead of just making a sale they can't fulfill.

I cannot rate the product, because I have been unable to obtain it directly from Dell.com. Even though Dell gave me a "free upgrade" to 2nd-day shipping, it had about a 10 day arrival date. When I questioned this, Dell said that it was actually 2nd-Day delivery, and that it hadn't shipped yet because there was a part on backorder. I was given a "free upgrade" to next-day delivery. He also gave me another number to call to see if I could substitute a different part. That person told me the parts had arrived (although he wouldn't tell me what part it was). He also assured me that my computer would ship on August 12 (instead of August 13). On August 13, I received an email from Dell saying that there was a part on backorder and my delivery date would now be August 20 (instead of the original August 15 or the update August 14). Needless to say, I'm not thrilled with Dell.com right now. I went with them in the first place because of good service they had given me in replacing a defective monitor. Apparently, things have changed. Caveat emptor.

UPDATE 8-14-13: I spent over an hour-and-a-half on the phone today with 6 different Dell reps about my order. The reason I called them was that the email I mentioned above gave a phone number to cancel the order. I called it actually to see if there was a similar computer I could get instead.

IMPORTANT NOTE - Picture #3 which shows the back panel is NOT CORRECT. It shows several video connections (on an expansion card) that are NOT INCLUDED with the 660. Don't make the mistake we made in buying the product thinking it has DVI outputs and dual VGA outputs. For VIDEO OUT it ONLY has one HDMI and one VGA. There is no video expansion card included. Otherwise it is a great product.

Amazing and quiet! September 6, 2013
This is a very fast and quiet desktop. If you're looking for casual gaming, or for a college student (like myself) then this desktop will be a perfect fit. It comes with a nice chiclet keyboard and a mouse along with a backup disc for the preinstalled drivers and software such as the cyberlink media suite. Overall, this thing is pretty amazing.
 Love it. September 4, 2013

Just what was advertised. Don't be afraid of Windows 8. It is not as hard as some make it. You had to learn Windows!
