Dell Inspiron 660 i660 Desktop Reviews

After a lot of research, thoughtful consideration, and then a hesitant decision, I purchased this and now I am wondering why I waited so long! Rapid delivery, in a double boxed package for a confidential delivery, was no surprise because Amazon is known (and appreciated!) for this.
The ease of set-up was noted, and all my devices were automatically recognized and functioned immediately. Windows 8 stumped me for a short time, but I really am enjoying working with it and learning how to make it do what I need and want. Internet connection is super fast. Wi-Fi for my devices throughout the house works great.
All in all, I am pretty happy with this purchase. I chose Dell to begin with since it has been so reliable for me in the past.

This is in response to Amazon's "Item Under Review" statement. It is about delivery problems from Dell.com, NOT from Amazon. I have ALWAYS received great delivery times (many shorter than expected) from Amazon. I am glad to see that Amazon would rather make sure they can ship the product instead of just making a sale they can't fulfill.

I cannot rate the product, because I have been unable to obtain it directly from Dell.com. Even though Dell gave me a "free upgrade" to 2nd-day shipping, it had about a 10 day arrival date. When I questioned this, Dell said that it was actually 2nd-Day delivery, and that it hadn't shipped yet because there was a part on backorder. I was given a "free upgrade" to next-day delivery. He also gave me another number to call to see if I could substitute a different part. That person told me the parts had arrived (although he wouldn't tell me what part it was). He also assured me that my computer would ship on August 12 (instead of August 13). On August 13, I received an email from Dell saying that there was a part on backorder and my delivery date would now be August 20 (instead of the original August 15 or the update August 14). Needless to say, I'm not thrilled with Dell.com right now. I went with them in the first place because of good service they had given me in replacing a defective monitor. Apparently, things have changed. Caveat emptor.

UPDATE 8-14-13: I spent over an hour-and-a-half on the phone today with 6 different Dell reps about my order. The reason I called them was that the email I mentioned above gave a phone number to cancel the order. I called it actually to see if there was a similar computer I could get instead.

IMPORTANT NOTE - Picture #3 which shows the back panel is NOT CORRECT. It shows several video connections (on an expansion card) that are NOT INCLUDED with the 660. Don't make the mistake we made in buying the product thinking it has DVI outputs and dual VGA outputs. For VIDEO OUT it ONLY has one HDMI and one VGA. There is no video expansion card included. Otherwise it is a great product.

Amazing and quiet! September 6, 2013
This is a very fast and quiet desktop. If you're looking for casual gaming, or for a college student (like myself) then this desktop will be a perfect fit. It comes with a nice chiclet keyboard and a mouse along with a backup disc for the preinstalled drivers and software such as the cyberlink media suite. Overall, this thing is pretty amazing.

Just what was advertised. Don't be afraid of Windows 8. It is not as hard as some make it. You had to learn Windows!
